Strange. This story was not easy to follow. There are editing errors that distract the reader. There is violence and some drag-you-down drama.

I am not sure what the storyline is about or what, if anything, was resolved. The procedures, actions and reactions of the police are not at all realistic. Telling the mother of an abducted child that "Statistically, abductors who intend to kill do it within three hours,” is totally unprofessional.

The characters are believable and have distinct personalities and qualities. Memorable dialogue that is thought-provoking and occasionally snarky.

'He was an idiot. Idiocy would hound his life no matter how hard
he tried to outrun it.'

'He figured religion did as much damage, killed as many people or more, triggered far greater wars than a few cartels ever managed to pull off.'

“You shouldn’t worry him with that kind of thing. When he’s not lucid he makes all kinds of irrational mental connections.”
"That’s true for any of us, don’t you think?”

'Bitterness, Warden believed, was the most stunning of all human emotions. It was multidimensional, multifaceted, multifunctional. It was the most effective emotion he could call upon in his line of work, the emotion that brought him the most success.'

He held her eyes. “Statistically, abductors who intend to kill do it within three hours,” he said. The air left the room.

Never Let You Go (Audible Audio Edition) Erin Healy Ann Harrison Thomas Nelson Books Reviews

I can relate to this story from a time in my past with the spiritual struggles going on, some things really do seem unbelievable to someone on the outside of it. This is like a peek behind the scenes, I only wish I had read it sooner.
This was a good book. It delves into the consequences of our sin in the lives of others, while relating the information in story form. It shows the spiritual battle that wages around each one of us, regardless of what we actually believe. It reminded me of a more subtle Frank Peretti or Ted Dekker book. If I'm not mistaken, the author has spent time writing with Dekker. I recommend it!
Powerful with each word that passed, I loved this book. It gripped you, you could sense each character's despair and struggle. The story came together to a perfect ending, tying up and loose end and questions were answered. Trully it gave a whole new meaning to the power of forgiveness and perhaps opened up a new door in my heart in that direction. I have to say my favorite character in the book was Angelo, though he was not the main character, the love of God and his protectiveness over his children was evident in this character. Now, I can't wait to read the next book The Promises She Keeps.
Plot is very intriguing and keeps you wondering....If you believe that Angels really do watch over us and Satan has minions that will try everything they can to turn us away from God's will in our life, you will really like this book. I did!!!
I read this book in one day. Pain kept me in bed all day. Great time to start and finish a book. Parts of this felt strange in an unnatural sort of way. That all melted into a blessing as Erin resolved the complex plot. Awesome writing. Loved the book.
Seven years ago, Grant left his wife Lexi and their daughter Molly without a word. Lexi's sister was murdered and her father mentally collapsed. Her sibling's killer Norm Von Ruden is on trial. Warden, who was Grant's illegal drug selling partner, warns Lexi to testify on behalf of Norm at the hearing or he will expose her secrets, demand payment of a debt she did not know existed and set in motion a plan to take Molly from her. Grant is also back insisting he just wants quality time with his daughter; Lexi distrusts him fearing he will cause them harm.

When someone assaults Lexi, Angelo saves her. Heaven and hell has broken out with Lexi caught in the middle. She is trusting no one and depending on only herself to keep Molly safe.

This is a terrific paranormal Christian suspense thriller that sub-genre fans will relish especially the wonderful relatively simple climax that seems so apropos. The story line is filled with action as increasingly Lexi wonders what did she do alienate either God or the devil as she feels she has become a modern day Job. Although transitions between scenes at times feels awkward, readers will enjoy rooting for Lexi as she will learn to err is human, to forgive is divine, but to forget and move on is heavenly.

This is Erin's first published solo effort, having collaborated on two of Ted Dekker's novels. This is a really good first effort. Erin combines a solid story with a strong spiritual overlay where the reader gets to see first hand an example of the ongoing supernatural warfare for our souls.

There are some really good elements to this novel. It is written really well giving the reader a great grasp of place and the emotional rollercoaster that plays out in most of our lives. Lexi Solomon, the main character is developed well and it would be very hard not to have empathy for her - her struggles reflect the microcosm of life we all experience regrettable past decisions that have significant consequences to one's future. But that's where forgiveness is so important, freeing us to the future hope we can experience.

I notice a lot of reviewers praise the novel's fast pace and it's thriller-esque qualities. I didn't really find that and at times found the underlying story a little dull, it being so commonplace. But I guess that's it power and wonderfully introduces us to the transformational impact of forgiveness and also the role angels and demons play in either promoting or belittling such.

Angelo and Warden, the two spiritual beings, are cleverly used to demonstrate this battle.

I hope this novel opens more readers' eyes to God's great love for us together with the spiritual battle that is being played out all around us. "Greater is He that is in you than he who is in the world."

Congratulations Erin. I look forward to reading novel number 2.
